Birchwood Children’s Services is seeking a dedicated and visionary Deputy Headteacher to join our dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) school team in Warrington. This is a rare opportunity to shape a curriculum and environment designed specifically for children who require a highly tailored, nurturing approach to learning.

As Deputy Headteacher, you will work hand-in-hand with the Headteacher to drive academic excellence, foster a trauma-informed culture, and ensure our students receive the highest quality of care and education.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning: Lead, mentor, and develop our teaching and support staff, ensuring the delivery of a highly adapted, creative curriculum.
Operational Leadership: Oversee the day-to-day running of the school, managing behaviors that challenge with empathy, structure, and positive behavior support strategies.
EHCP Management: Ensure Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) are seamlessly translated into daily classroom practice and individual learning goals.
Culture & Safeguarding: Maintain an environment where safeguarding is paramount and every child feels safe, valued, and understood.

What We Are Looking For

Experience: A proven track record of successful leadership within an SEN setting (specifically supporting children with complex needs, autism, or SEMH).
Vision: A leader who values progress in all its forms—whether that is academic achievements, emotional regulation, or independent living skills.
Resilience: Someone with a calm demeanor, strong emotional intelligence, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with further leadership qualifications (e.g., NPQH or NPQSL) being highly desirable.
