We are now looking for a Waste Barge Coxswain to join our team supporting operations in Tees Port and Hartlepool.
The Role
As Waste Barge Coxswain, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient and professional operation of the waste barge, ensuring full compliance with operational contracts across multiple terminals within the Tees Port and Hartlepool area, or other designated locations.
You will take ownership of vessel operations, ensuring adherence to all relevant legislation, terminal requirements, company policies and local operating procedures.
Working a 7 days on / 7 days off rotation (0700–1900), you will support a continuous 365-day service, including weekends and public holidays.
Key Responsibilities
Safely operating the waste barge in a seamanlike manner
Managing day-to-day vessel operations and ensuring regulatory compliance
Overseeing loading and discharge of ship-generated waste
Ensuring compliance with all legislative, terminal and company procedures
Maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental performance
Completing planned maintenance and reporting defects as required
Leading and supporting crew to ensure safe and efficient operations
Maintaining accurate operational and compliance records

About You
You will be a safety-focused, motivated and experienced mariner with the ability to operate independently while maintaining high professional standards.
Essential Requirements
RYA/MCA Advanced Powerboat or Yachtmaster Coastal (Commercially Endorsed) (minimum)
Valid ENG1 Medical Certificate
Full STCW Basic Safety certification (minimum six months remaining)
Previous experience operating workboats or similar vessels
Living within commutable distance of Tees Port
Full UK driving licence
Right to live and work in the UK
Good communication and IT skills
Desirable
Forklift licence
HIAB certification
