Role Overview
As a Road Freight Specialist, you will play a key role in the planning and coordination of European road freight movements. Working closely with hauliers and internal stakeholders, you will ensure transport activities are carried out safely, efficiently and cost-effectively whilst delivering excellent service levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Planning and coordinating daily road freight operations to meet customer requirements.
- Optimising routes, vehicle utilisation and transport schedules to maximise efficiency.
- Liaising with hauliers and internal stakeholders regarding shipment status and operational requirements.
- Liaising with hauliers and transport partners to support RFQ activities, ensuring competitive pricing, capacity availability and successful business wins
- Monitoring transport performance against service and cost targets.
- Ensuring all transport activities comply with legal, regulatory and company requirements, including drivers' hours and transport legislation.
- Managing and updating transport management systems accurately and efficiently.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance.
- Identifying and resolving service issues proactively and professionally.
- Managing transport-related administration, financial controls and cost monitoring.
- Supporting volume growth and profitability objectives set by management.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with carriers and service providers.
Skills and Experience:
- Experience of customs processes and documentation for UK and European road freight movements.
- Experience of transport billing and invoicing.
- Good administrative and organisational skills
- Results driven with a high attention to detail
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritise tasks and use own initiative
- Excellent written and spoken English
- High level of IT skills
- Good knowledge of Windows, Word, Excel
- Minimum of 5 x GCSE passes including English and Maths

HOURS/SHIFT PATTERN: 37.5 hours per week
