Job Title: Care Home Accountant

Location: Eden Court Care Home, Halifax

Department: Care Home Finance

Salary: £30,000 per annum

Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Contract Type: Permanent

Reports To: Directors, Radiance Care Limited

ABOUT RADIANCE CARE:

Radiance Care Limited operates three care homes: Stainton Way Care Home, Stainton Lodge Care Home in Middlesbrough, and Eden Court Care Home in Halifax. Our services primarily support the elderly population and are delivered in partnership with Local Authorities and Integrated Care Services, in compliance with the standards of the Care Quality Commission.

We provide a range of specialist services including residential care, nursing care, dementia care, and mental health support, with a strong focus on person-centred and safe care.

All three homes are rated “Overall Good” by the Care Quality Commission, reflecting strong governance and a commitment to high-quality care.

As part of our continued growth, Radiance Care Limited has also acquired Northeast Care Home Limited, strengthening our presence in the care sector.

The organisation currently employs approximately 300 staff, including directors, regional management, registered managers, nurses, carers, and administrative teams.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accountant with care home experience to support the financial operations across our care homes.

The successful candidate will manage bookkeeping, financial reporting, invoicing, payroll support and accounts management, ensuring accurate financial records and compliance with internal procedures. The role requires strong hands-on experience in care home accounting, including sales and purchase invoicing, payroll support, and use of accounting systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Bookkeeping & Accounts Management

Full responsibility forbookkeeping and accounts management
Maintain accurate financial records across all care home operations
Reconcile accounts and ensure timely month-end close
Maintain ledgers and supporting documentation

Invoicing & Credit Control

Processing invoices for suppliers and services
Sending invoices to clients, residents, and funding authorities
Manage accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments
Ensure accurate billing for care home services

Care Home Financial Operations

Care home accounting experience is mandatory
Handle financial transactions specific to care home operations
Monitor resident billing, fees, and payment allocations
Work closely with care home admins and managers to ensure financial accuracy

Payroll & Purchases

Assist with payroll processing, PAYE calculation, payslip generation and payroll journals
Manage purchase and sales invoices
Process and record supplier payments accurately
Support monthly payroll reporting and reconciliations

Reporting & Administration

Maintain accurate records using accounting systems
Support audits and compliance checks

CARE HOME EXPERIENCE: (ESSENTIAL)

Care home accounting experience is mandatory
Understanding of care home financial structures, including resident billing and funding sources
Experience working within healthcare or residential care environments preferred

SYSTEMS AND SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE (ESSENTIAL)

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Strong bookkeeping and accounting knowledge
Experience in invoice processing and accounts management
Ability to manage multiple financial tasks and deadlines
Bank reconciliations
Good communication and organisational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
High attention to detail and accuracy
