Full job description

Purpose of the Role

The Project Support Officer will play a central role in supporting the delivery of a 4-year Community Lottery funded outreach programme operating across 8 areas in Cheshire.

This role will focus on community-based engagement, outreach development, stakeholder collaboration, and supporting volunteers to ensure the successful implementation of this multi-year initiative.

Working closely with the Charity Manager, Deputy Manager, Stakeholder Delivery Manager, and Finance Officer, the Project Coordinator will help ensure the programme meets its outcomes, funding requirements, and quality standards while making a meaningful difference in local communities.

The postholder will work across multiple projects where required, but a significant proportion of time will be dedicated to supporting the planning, coordination, monitoring, and delivery of the Community Lottery outreach programme.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Community Lottery Programme – Outreach Delivery (Primary Focus)

Support the coordination and delivery of a 4-year Community Lottery funded outreach programme across 8 areas in Cheshire.
Assist in developing and maintaining detailed project plans, including milestone tracking and outcome reporting aligned to funder requirements.
Support community engagement activity, ensuring outreach services are accessible, inclusive, and responsive to local need.
Attend community events, local meetings, and partnership forums across Cheshire to promote the programme and strengthen local relationships.
Work collaboratively with local stakeholders, community organisations, and partners to maximise impact and avoid duplication.
Support the collection of both quantitative and qualitative data to evidence outcomes and demonstrate impact to the funder.
Write case studies and impact stories to support monitoring, evaluation, and future funding opportunities.
Help ensure consistent delivery standards across all 8 geographical areas.

Project Support & Implementation

Proactively support the wider management team, reporting to the Stakeholder Delivery Manager.
Contribute to both established and emerging projects, including outreach initiatives, events, and office-based coordination.
Action project plans created by the management team, ensuring effective and timely implementation.
Ensure all projects are delivered in accordance with funder requirements, charity policies, and the organisation’s quality framework.

Monitoring, Reporting & Compliance

Accurately record interventions and engagement activity on the charity’s electronic CRM system.
Produce monitoring reports for the Management Team and funders as required.
Maintain training and staff development records and research relevant training opportunities.
Update forms, policies, and procedures in line with regulatory requirements, including GDPR.
Support service evaluation and performance monitoring processes.

Volunteer Coordination & Support

Support recruitment, coordination, and day-to-day supervision of volunteers across outreach locations.
Complete DBS and reference checks and support volunteer inductions where appropriate.
Help ensure volunteers are supported, valued, and integrated effectively within community delivery.

Community Engagement & Income Generation

Engage with and support Parent and Carers, adult health and social care workers and liaise with supported living and independent living care providers.
Assist in fundraising activities and events linked to the outreach programme and wider charity initiatives.
Professionally represent the charity at meetings, training sessions, and community events across Cheshire.

General Requirements

Promote the welfare and safeguarding of vulnerable adults, responding appropriately in line with safeguarding policy.
Demonstrate the ability to work independently, use initiative, and manage competing priorities across multiple locations.
Undertake any additional duties as required by the Charity Manager or Management Team.

Person Specification – Project Coordinator

Essential Criteria

Experience

Experience of supporting or coordinating community-based projects or outreach programmes.
Experience of working with multiple stakeholders including community groups, partner organisations, and service users.
Experience of supporting monitoring and evaluation processes, including collecting quantitative and qualitative data.
Experience of maintaining accurate records and producing reports.
Experience of working with volunteers, including coordination or supervision.
Experience of working with vulnerable adults and/or families within a community setting.

Knowledge & Understanding

Understanding of community development principles and inclusive outreach practice.
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults.
Understanding of data protection and GDPR requirements.
Awareness of funding requirements and the importance of evidencing outcomes and impact (particularly within grant-funded programmes such as multi-year Lottery funding).

Skills & Abilities

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple geographical areas.
Ability to contribute to detailed project plans and track milestones effectively.
Excellent written skills, including the ability to write reports and case studies suitable for funders.
Ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders across 8 community areas in Cheshire.
Confident communicator, both verbally and in writing.
Competent IT skills, including use of databases/CRM systems and Microsoft Office.
Ability to work independently using initiative, while also contributing effectively within a team.
Ability to travel across Cheshire to support outreach delivery.

Knowledge of the voluntary and community sector within Cheshire.
Experience of supporting volunteer recruitment processes including DBS and reference checks.
Relevant qualification in community development, project management, social care, or related field.

Pay: £26,500.00-£28,000.00 per year
