We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist to join our friendly, supportive team at the highly specialist and well sought-after Blackheath Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit in London.

Located in trendy South East London, 10 minutes-walk away from the pretty cafes and boutiques of Greenwich, the unit has a 21-bed Level 1 Highly Specialist Cognitive-Behavioural ward and a Level 2 Neurorehabilitation ward with 18 beds. Both wards provide specialist treatment to patients with physical and cognitive impairments resulting from an acquired / traumatic brain injury.

This role offers an opportunity to join our growing and innovative neuropsychology department, while working as part of a wider, highly experienced and passionate multidisciplinary team (neurorehabilitation medicine, neuropsychiatry, neuropsychology, nursing, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, music therapy, social activities coordinators).

What you'll be working:

Our standard working pattern for this role is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

What you'll be doing:

Undertake protocol-based psychological assessments of clients applying psychological theory, including neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations
Assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and / or management of a patient's problems, under supervision
Assist in the coordination and running of therapeutic groups or clinical projects
Work with other staff to assess patients and review their care in preparation for multi-disciplinary review
Take a key role in collection, collation and analysis of patient reported outcome measures
Assist in the development of a psychological based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings where care takes place
Attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings
Be responsible for a designated caseload under supervision of the Psychology team
Attend relevant training and development to maintain and develop skills and knowledge
Keep people safe from harm and protect their human rights

What you'll have:

A BPS recognised Psychology undergraduate degree of 2:1 or above
Previous healthcare experience is desirable
High level communication skills (written and verbal)
An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with neurological problems or other disabilities would be an advantage
Ability to apply existing psychological knowledge to a neurological context
Successful candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS
