Full job description

BOOKKEEPER (PART-TIME)

Whilst our core business is to design and build cool machines, we also need someone to keep our finances in order. We're looking for an experienced part-time bookkeeper to manage our payroll, reconcile our accounts, and keep our QuickBooks system running smoothly.

This is not your usual chaotic bookkeeping role where you're drowning in paperwork and chasing missing invoices. This job is focused and manageable. You'll have clear responsibilities, work independently, and be trusted to get on with it.

The perfect candidate will tick all the boxes below

At least 3 years bookkeeping experience in a similar role
Strong experience with QuickBooks (or similar accounting software)
Proven payroll processing experience including PAYE, NI, and pension contributions
Excellent reconciliation skills - you can spot errors and discrepancies a mile off
Sharp with numbers and obsessed with accuracy
Professional, trustworthy, and understands confidentiality
Comfortable working independently and managing your own time
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
Keen to crack on and get the job done efficiently
Flexible to take on additional hours during busy periods

So what will your role look like?

Payroll Management

Process weekly/monthly payroll for up to 20 employees in QuickBooks
Calculate wages, deductions, and statutory payments accurately
Maintain payroll records and ensure HMRC compliance
Handle any payroll queries from the team

Account Reconciliation

Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and supplier accounts monthly
Identify and resolve discrepancies quickly
Keep all transactions accurately recorded in QuickBooks
Monitor accounts for errors, duplicates, and anomalies

QuickBooks Management

Maintain and update all accounting records
Input and process purchase invoices and supplier payments
Prepare monthly payment runs and verify accuracy
Generate financial reports as required

Ad Hoc Reporting

Produce financial reports for management review
Assist with month-end and year-end procedures
Support annual accounts preparation
Provide financial data for business planning

General Admin

Monitor and respond to the accounts inbox
Liaise with suppliers regarding invoice and payment queries
Communicate with the Commercial Director and wider team
Handle sensitive financial information professionally

We pay for this important position £14.00 per hour for 10 hours per week (with additional paid hours available when needed)

What else do you need to know..

We are based on a farm in Brixworth (NN6 9DS) - this is where you'll work
Paid holidays
We expect the role to be around 10 hours per week, but there may be times when we need more support (month-end, year-end, busy periods) - and we'll obviously pay you for any extra hours
AAT qualification is desirable but not essential
Experience in manufacturing or engineering is a bonus
