Job Overview
We are seeking to recruit a skilled Plant Machinery Mechanic / Plant Fitter to join our well-established and growing team at Schwing Stetter UK Limited.
Based within a busy engineering environment, this is a hands-on workshop and field-based role, involving the servicing, diagnosis, and repair of specialist construction plant and concrete production equipment used across major infrastructure projects throughout the UK. The role includes regular travel to customer sites, with a company vehicle provided to support field-based duties.
The key focus of this role is equipment reliability and uptime. You will be responsible for ensuring plant machinery is fully operational, diagnosing faults efficiently, and carrying out effective repairs to minimise downtime and maintain operational performance.
You will work across a range of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, applying strong diagnostic skills to identify and resolve faults at both component and system level.
Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to)
- Service, diagnose, and repair construction plant and concrete production equipment
- Respond to breakdowns and carry out effective fault-finding to minimise downtime
- Work on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems across workshop and site environments
- Identify faults quickly and deliver practical, reliable repair solutions
- Carry out planned maintenance and safety inspections to engineering standards
- Support equipment reliability through accurate diagnosis and repair work
- Maintain clear and accurate service and repair records
- Work in line with health, safety, and operational procedures at all times
Hours of Work
- Monday – Thursday: 08:00 – 17:00
- Friday: 08:00 – 16:30

The Ideal Candidate
This role will suit an experienced engineer who has worked within roles such as Plant Service Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Plant Technician, or Multiskilled Engineer, with hands-on experience servicing, maintaining, and repairing heavy plant machinery.
You will have strong working knowledge of hydraulics, diesel engines, and electrical systems, with the ability to diagnose faults methodically and deliver effective repair solutions in both workshop and field environments.
A full, clean UK driving licence is essential, as the role includes regular travel to customer sites and attending breakdowns as required. You must be comfortable working off-site and responding to service and repair needs in the field.
Exposure to a wider range of plant, construction, or ground care machinery is highly beneficial, along with a practical, problem-solving approach and a strong focus on reliability and quality of work.
