Full job description

Durham Cathedral Schools Foundation is looking for a reliable, organised and enthusiastic Science Technician to join our thriving Science Department.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role behind the scenes, supporting practical science across Biology, Chemistry and Physics and helping create an inspiring learning environment where pupils can discover, experiment and develop a lifelong curiosity about science.

From preparing experiments to ensuring every laboratory is safe and fully equipped, your work will help pupils experience science through exciting, hands-on learning every single day.

About the Role

As our Science Technician, you'll support the day-to-day running of our laboratories by:

Preparing equipment, chemicals and materials for practical science lessons.
Setting up and clearing away laboratory apparatus.
Maintaining laboratory equipment and specialist resources.
Monitoring and replenishing stocks of chemicals and consumables.
Helping ensure laboratories are safe, organised and ready for teaching.
Supporting teachers with practical demonstrations where required.
Promoting high standards of health and safety across the department.

We're Looking for Someone Who:

Has a scientific background or laboratory experience.
Is organised, practical and enjoys hands-on work.
Has excellent attention to detail.
Can manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively.
Enjoys working as part of a friendly team.
Is committed to maintaining a safe working environment.

A science qualification or previous experience working in a laboratory or school environment would be advantageous, although training can be provided for the right candidate.
