Full job description

Job Title: Safety & Building Services Supervisor

Department: Estates

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

Salary: £25,276 – £27,604 per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week*

Annual Leave: 30 days plus statutory Bank Holidays

Pension: NEST Pension Scheme

This role operates on a 3-week shift rotation to provide cover 7 days per week, including evenings and weekends.

Current shift patterns are: 05:30 – 14:00, 08:00 – 16:30, 13:00 – 21:30. In addition, you will be required to work approximately one weekend in every 8 weeks, with weekend hours of 08:00 – 16:30 on both Saturday and Sunday.

These working patterns reflect current arrangements and may be reviewed and adjusted in line with operational requirements.

The Role

We are looking for a proactive, professional and customer-focused Safety & Building Services Supervisor to join our Facilities Management team. This is a varied and rewarding role where you will play a key part in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors, while supporting the day-to-day operation of our campus services. As part of the College Safety team, you'll be involved in a wide range of responsibilities including security, concierge services, fire evacuation procedures, first aid, porterage, minor maintenance and supporting the efficient delivery of estate services across the College.

Key Responsibilities

To provide an efficient and effective estates service within the Facilities Management Department. Services include but are not limited to, porterage, internal goods & post services, concierge services, fire evacuation, cleaning, goods yard operation, minor maintenance and repair, reprographics, and car parking services.
To play a full part in the College Safety team, to have a good understanding of Safeguarding responsibilities, gain and maintain Security Industry Association registration in door supervision & CCTV operation including the supply of recorded images (in accordance with relevant legislation), carry out the duty of an appointed first aider.
To participate in flexible working arrangements, including shift systems and weekend cover, and an emergency call-out rota.
To respond to request for assistance, in an efficient and effective manner, as appropriate to skills and duties.

Qualifications

To hold or be willing to work towards appointed person First Aid status.
To hold or be willing to work towards IOSH Working Safely (or equivalent).
To hold a valid SIA badge (Frontline Door Supervisor / CCTV Operator) or be willing to work towards – Desirable.

Experience

Experience of working in a role with security elements including de-escalation, patrolling, ID checks, meet and greet.
Porterage.
Concierge services.
Fire evacuation.

Knowledge & Skills

Basic understanding of CCTV and Security systems.
Good communication skills (written, verbal, listening and recall).
Excellent Interpersonal and team working skills and ability to deal with challenging situations in a professional manner.
Good observational skills.
