Full job description

Starting rate of pay: Up to £12.21 per hour- This may increase on successful completion of the NVQ Level 2 dispensing assistant course.

We are looking for an enthusiastic ‘Pharmacy Assistant’ to join our pharmacy team. You would be involved in a variety of different areas in the pharmacy throughout the day to achieve our goal of safely supplying medication to the local community.

Our team is small and friendly and we work very closely – you will become part of our small family from the very start of your journey with Hurst Pharmacy. Great communication with your colleagues is a must-have for the key to success.

Within 2-4 months of starting the role, you will have the opportunity to undertake and work towards an NVQ2 Level 2 Dispensing Assistant course

Main roles and responsibilities will include:

Dispensing Medication – Working efficiently and accurately to ensure prescriptions are dispensed correctly whilst updating patient's medication records whilst maintaining patient confidentiality
Stock Control – Ensuring all products are stored correctly and ordering is maintained through the Pharmacy and shop floor
Assist with the preparation of MDS (Monitored Dosage Systems/Blister Packs) to benefit patients with their medication
Accurately hand out medication and check patient declarations and exemptions to ensure maximum payments are received with minimal losses
Process any invoices and deliveries promptly
Undertake all housekeeping duties so the shop floor and dispensary are kept clean and tidy
Eagerness to learn to assist customers with over-the-counter medication and advice
Liaising with local surgeries to assist with medication shortages
Participating in the delivery of any additional services for which you have received training on

Qualifications and Skills

Excellent computer literacy
Fast typists
Good organisation skills
Excellent communication skills
Fluent English (you will need to deal with telephone and email queries)
Ability to work under pressure
Team Player
Dispensary Knowledge (Full training will be provided)

Required Hours

Days between Monday to Friday 9am-6pm
Alternate Saturdays

-Availability to cover other days if required (not every week)
