About the role

Provide comprehensive secretarial support to medical consultants and clinical teams.
Produce accurate and timely medical correspondence, clinic letters, reports, and documentation.
Manage consultant diaries, appointment schedules, and administrative workflows.
Act as a key point of contact for patients, consultants, GPs, and internal departments, delivering a professional and responsive service.
Ensure patient records and clinical information are maintained accurately and confidentially.
Support the efficient management of patient pathways and clinic activities.
Respond to telephone and email enquiries in a courteous and professional manner.
Contribute to the delivery of organisational objectives through effective administration and communication.
Maintain organised systems and processes to support the smooth running of the department.

Skills and experience required

You will be a highly organised individual with excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

Essential Criteria

Significant previous experience in a Medical Secretarial role.
Educated to GCSE level or equivalent experience.
Excellent customer care and communication skills with a professional, patient-focused approach.
Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications and clinical systems.
Proven ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
A flexible, reliable, and proactive approach to work.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable Criteria

AMSPAR qualification or other Medical Secretarial/Secretarial certification.
Previous experience within a private healthcare setting.
Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare administration processes.
