Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Activities Coordinator for a temporary position within a care home setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for organising engaging activities that enhance the quality of life for residents, with a focus on fostering social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall wellbeing. Experience in assisted living, nursing home environments, or dementia care is highly desirable. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute positively to the lives of elderly residents while developing your skills within a supportive environment.

Duties

Plan, organise, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and needs.
Foster social engagement by encouraging participation in activities and promoting a friendly, inclusive atmosphere.
Collaborate with care staff to assess residents’ preferences and capabilities to ensure activities are suitable and beneficial.
Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to inform future activity planning.
Assist with the setup of activity spaces, ensuring all equipment and materials are safe and appropriate for use.
Provide emotional support and companionship to residents during activities, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
Stay informed about best practices in senior care and activity programming through ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

Previous experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or senior care environments is preferred.
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with elderly residents and team members.
Compassionate nature with a genuine interest in enhancing the wellbeing of older adults.
Organised with the ability to plan engaging activities that cater to diverse needs and abilities.
Flexibility to adapt activities based on residents’ changing health conditions or preferences.
Relevant caregiving or activity coordination qualifications are desirable but not essential; enthusiasm for learning is key. This position offers an enriching environment where your efforts directly improve residents’ daily lives while allowing you to grow professionally within the field of senior care.

Pay: £12.80-£13.75 per hour
