Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a creative and skilled NPD Chef to lead the development of innovative, high-
quality food products that align with business objectives, customer requirements, and market
trends. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, testing, and refining recipes,
improving existing products, and ensuring all developments meet food safety, nutritional, and
commercial standards.
The role requires close collaboration with production, procurement, quality assurance, and
commercial teams to ensure successful product launches while maintaining consistency, cost-
effectiveness, and operational feasibility.

Key Responsibilities

Develop new food products and recipes in line with customer requirements and market

trends.

Research and identify innovative ingredients, flavours, and product concepts to enhance the

product range.

Conduct kitchen trials, product testing, and recipe optimisation to improve taste, texture, shelf

life, and nutritional value.

Adapt recipes for large-scale production while maintaining product quality and consistency.

Work closely with production teams to ensure smooth transition from kitchen development to

commercial manufacturing.

Liaise with suppliers to source suitable ingredients and assess cost-effectiveness.
Ensure all products comply with food safety, allergen, hygiene, and regulatory standards.
Maintain accurate product specifications, recipe documentation, and technical records.
Support continuous improvement of existing products to enhance quality and efficiency.
Monitor food trends, competitor activity, and consumer preferences to support innovation.

Skills Required

Strong culinary skills with knowledge of food preparation, flavour profiling, and recipe

development.

Understanding of large-scale food production and manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP principles, allergens, and compliance standards.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Commercial awareness with an understanding of product costing and margin control.
Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
