Role Summary
Monday-to-Thursday (2000-0630hrs)
With a core focus in achieving best-in class for performance, quality, compliance, and safety, our Technical Quality Department are pivotal in ensuring that our nutraceutical product range and services meet required quality and safety standards.
In our unrelenting pursuit of excellence, we are expanding our team of Quality Assurance Technicians (QAT) to further strengthen our exceptional team.
The ideal candidate will need a blend of technical and soft skills, including attention to detail, analytical thinking, strong communication, and knowledge of industry standards and regulations. The primary purpose of a QAT is to ensure products and services meet quality and safety standards by inspecting, testing, verifying materials and processes throughout our production environment. Day-to-day duties can involve a substantial amount of manual handling including bending, stretching, stooping, stepping, reaching, and lifting. Having a good range of mobility is important to ensure you can work safely within health and safety regulations without placing undue strain on your body.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspection and Testing:
- Conduct routine inspections of raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP) materials, and finished products.
- Perform various tests, including visual inspections, measurements, and laboratory analysis, using specialised equipment.
- Monitor production processes to identify potential problems and ensure consistency.
- Investigate any food safety incidents applying root cause analysis.
Data Collection and Reporting:
- Complete all documentation relating to food safety checks. Collect and record data from inspections and tests.
- Maintain accurate records of all relevant data, including test results and inspections
- Prepare reports summarising findings, including any deviations from standards.
- Communicate findings and recommendations to supervisors and other key stakeholders.
Process and Continuous Improvement:
- Monitor the food manufacturing process to ensure compliance with safety and quality specifications.
- Identify areas for improvement in quality control processes.
- Collaborate with engineers, production operatives, warehouse operatives, and the leadership team to implement corrective actions and prevent actions.
Adherence to Standards:
- Support the site management team during any external accreditation such as BRC and GMP standards.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) systems.
- Adhere to company systems, procedures, and standards.
- Relevant legislation relating to food quality and safety, ensure compliance with industry, customer, and company regulations.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
Other Tasks:
- Calibrate and maintain test equipment.
- Assist in training new staff on quality control procedures.
- Carryout and support first, second, and third-party audits.

Skills/Experience/Qualifications
The role of Quality Assurance Technician is multifaceted and requires both industry-specific qualifications and technical abilities. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
Formal Education/Certification:
- Foundation Degree, Higher National Diploma, or Technical Certification in a related field.
- Food Safety & HACCP certification (ideally, minimum of level 3).
Skills:
- Understanding of Quality Control Processes: Familiarity with quality control procedures, methodologies, and techniques used in the nutraceutical industry.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret data, identify trends, and draw conclusions from test results.
- Knowledge of Industry Standards and Regulations: Understanding of relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Proficiency in Quality Control Software: Familiarity with relevant software used for data analysis, reporting, and record-keeping.
- Knowledge of Analytical Techniques: Understanding of various analytical techniques used in nutraceutical testing.
- Documentation Skills: Ability to create, maintain, and review accurate and complete documentation, reports, and presentations.
- Attention to Detail: The ability to meticulously review and analyse data and documents to identify potential issues.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey findings, recommendations, and quality reports.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify, analyse, and resolve quality-related issues.
