£38,610 per annum, 39 hours per week. Shift-based role with dedicated administration hours and on-call responsibilities

As our Deputy Manager, you'll work alongside the Registered Manager to lead the home, inspire the team and ensure every young person receives the outstanding care they deserve.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced residential childcare professional who's ready to take the next step towards Registered Manager.
The role
This is a varied leadership role combining hands-on care, operational management and staff development.
You'll continue to spend time working directly alongside young people while also taking responsibility for the smooth day-to-day running of the home.
Working closely with the Registered Manager, you'll help ensure the home remains a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment where children can flourish.
You'll also deputise for the Registered Manager during periods of annual leave or absence, confidently leading the home and supporting both the team and young people.
What you'll be doing
Supporting young people
- Building positive, trusting relationships with children and young people.
- Ensuring care is delivered in line with individual care plans and therapeutic approaches.
- Supporting education, routines, independence and positive experiences.
- Planning activities and opportunities that help young people develop confidence and life skills.
- Advocating for young people and ensuring their voices are always heard.
- Making child-centred decisions that promote safety, wellbeing and positive outcomes.
Leading the home
- Working alongside the Registered Manager, you'll:
- Help oversee the day-to-day running of the home.
- Ensure high-quality care is consistently delivered.
- Maintain oversight of care planning, risk assessments and young people's records.
- Monitor documentation to ensure it is accurate, compliant and reflects each young person's journey.
- Support workforce development and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to Regulation 44 inspections and quality improvement plans.
- Help ensure the home consistently meets the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve practice and implement positive change.
Leading people
- You'll play a key role in developing and supporting the team by:
- Leading shifts and providing clear leadership.
- Delivering supervisions, probation reviews and annual appraisals.
- Coaching, mentoring and developing colleagues.
- Supporting new starters through induction and ongoing learning.
- Addressing performance concerns fairly and constructively.
- Building a positive, accountable and supportive team culture.
- Encouraging reflective practice and research-informed approaches to care.
About you
You're an experienced residential childcare professional who leads with confidence, compassion and integrity.
You understand that great leadership isn't about managing tasks - it's about creating an environment where young people and colleagues can both thrive.
You'll have:
- Level 4 Diploma in Children and Young People's Workforce (or equivalent).
- Experience working within children's residential care.
- Previous leadership or management experience.
- A strong understanding of the Children's Homes Regulations 2015, safeguarding legislation and Quality Standards.
- Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- The confidence to manage the home in the Registered Manager's absence.
- A willingness to work towards the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management.
- A full UK driving licence.
