Benwick Kennels & Cattery is a fully licensed, 5* busy animal boarding establishment offering accommodation for dogs and cats as well as day boarding services.
Please note we operate 365 days of the year so you may be rostered to work Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day and bank holidays. Do not apply if you are unable to work weekends, cover sickness at short notice or cover school holidays.
This is a casual summer position with the chance to become permenant. This will be primarily weekends (usually a Saturday OR Sunday but this may change due to business needs).
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as an animal care assistant, ideally you will have previous experience or studying towards a level 3 animal management qualification or equivalent. This is a physically demanding job and you must have had experience with large breed dogs. A lot of your time will be spent outside exercising dogs. We work in all weathers, snow, rain & sunshine. With availability to work weekends and cover staff holidays where required, this could be weekends, during the week and/or bank holidays. If you have a love for animals, excellent attention to detail, love cleaning to a high standard, have amazing time management skills and a desire to provide exceptional care, we would love to hear from you.
If you are successful at interview, you will be required to attend a trial morning, to see if you are the perfect fit.

Responsibilities include (but are not exhaustive to):
- Ensuring the overall cleanliness and hygiene of the kennel and cattery areas.
- Provide daily care, feeding and exercise for dogs and cats of all breeds, sizes and temperaments. Such as interacting and playing with animals to ensure their mental stimulation and socialization needs are met.
- Monitor and maintain the health and wellbeing of all animals within our care, by observing and reporting changes in the animal's behaviour or health conditions.
- Administer medications or treatments (after training) as instructed by the owner, veterinarian or a qualified member of staff.
- Assist with grooming tasks such as bathing and brushing.
- Provide office staff with updates and photographs, highlighting the boarder's wellbeing, to ensure a positive experience for both the customer and boarder.
Requirements:
- Minimum of Level 2 Animal Management or equivalent and/or previous experience working with animals in a professional capacity (ideally kennels & cattery) is preferred, however we may still consider for the right individual.
- Applicant must be 18+

- The ability and confidence to handle and restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols and procedures.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a small team as well as utilizing your own initiative good time management techniques to ensure tasks are carried out.
- Excellent and professional communication between the team, management and customers.
- Ability to demonstrate a strong work ethic and a proactive approach to tasks, such as a willingness to actively engage in physical work and cleaning duties.
- Physical ability to lift and carry animals, complete cleaning duties and walk dogs in all weather conditions.
- Flexibility to work weekends, bank holidays and occasional additional days if required.
- Reliable and punctual with arranged transportation to commute, we have free on-site parking and bus stops within a 5-minute walk. Ideally within 15 minutes commute.
