An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to undertake the role of Document Receiver Reader within the Serious Crime Directorate.

The Major Crime Department investigates all murders in the County and is seeking to recruit a Document Receiver/Reader to the Major Investigation Room at Great Dunmow Police Station.

The Document Receiver/Reader role is key in a Major Crime investigation. You will be responsible for thoroughly and expeditiously reading and assessing all documentation entering the incident room and raising actions for the enquiry team to carry out. Much of the material is received electronically and an ability to deal with documents online is essential.

You must have proven skills and experience as a criminal investigator in a Major, Complex, or Serious Crime environment and be able to demonstrate that you can manage intelligence appropriately. For the receiver aspect of the role it would be desirable to have previous managerial/supervisory skills. Interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential, as you will be responsible for managing the direction of an enquiry. You must also be able to evidence a high degree of personal responsibility and problem solving, planning and organisational skills.

The majority of Major Crime enquiries are managed by Home Office Large Major Enquiry System (HOLMES) so HOLMES and knowledge of Major Incident Room Standard Administrative Procedures (MIRSAP) is desirable. A good level of general IT skills is also desirable.

This opportunity would suit a highly motivated and dynamic individual who can bring their wide experience of investigation to this key role.

This role is office agile with at least three days a week in the office at Great Dunmow Police Station, there is also a requirement for attendance at the Major Incident Room (MIR) if operationally required.

The role will offer flexibility in terms of place of work, including some home working. The extent of flexibility will be agreed through individual assessment with the line manager to assess operational requirements and individual’s suitability for home working.
