Finance Manager (Part-Time, FTC - Mat Cover)

This is a part time, fixed term contract covering maternity leave ending October 2027, however, in an ever evolving business, there is scope for the role to become permanent.
What you’ll be doing;
- Journal Processing & Management Information; Produce journals and prepare management information on a monthly basis, giving timely responses to information requests through document preparation to be shared at internal stakeholder meetings
- Month and Year end processes; Lead on the production of all month and year end procedures ensuring full alignment with processes delivered to an excellent standard
- Cash Flow; Track and amend cash flow where needed, highlighting any potential challenges and supporting all budget tracking activities
- Purchase Invoices; Evaluate and approve weekly purchase invoices to allow the business to run efficiently
- Bank Responsibilities; Be confident in making ad hoc bank payments where necessary
- Quarterly VAT; Compile and submit all quarterly VAT returns
- Leadership; Act as a mentor and motivator for the team, driving performance through supportive leadership
- Ensure timely completion of all financial procedures, where necessary playing a hands-on role; tasks included but not limited to:
- Accounts Payable; Receiving invoices, assist with the upkeep of the purchase ledger and associated processes as well as collaborating on team member expenses
- Accounts Receivable; When required, manage the invoicing and accounts receivable process, offering full support on all credit control efforts
- Payroll; Assist with weekly and monthly payroll processing and set up along with associated pension related admin as well as tracking and actioning internal referral payments
- Reconciliation; Perform bank and card reconciliation when needed
- Admin; Collaborative inbox management, full compliance with all financial processes and procedures, digital record maintenance, GDPR compliance, ad-hoc support to all team members when needed

Tell me about the Finance Hub…
It’s a current team of 3 amazing individuals with a wealth of experience, and a supportive ‘get things done’ attitude. You will have manager responsibilities for the finance administrator and senior finance administrator. The hub works collaboratively across all areas of the business, with close association with the Senior Leadership Team. The financial insight from the hub is a strong driver of the business ensuring the financial decisions made support the growth and robustness of TPF, meaning we are financially ready for whatever comes our way.
So what are the person specifics for this role?
- Sage; Our accounting system is Sage, familiarity with this system would be an advantage but there will be full training and support available
- Experience; proven experience in a previous finance manager/bookkeeping role is required due to month and year end processes.
- Qualification Specifics; A level 3 AAT qualification or equivalent in financial experience would be a minimum
- Google/Excel; we predominantly use Google workplace but there is an overlap with Excel, so familiarity with both is an advantage
- Accuracy; A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is a must, ensuring full compliance on financial processes
- Prioritising; Experience in balancing a competing workload that adheres to strict deadlines, strong time management with great organisational skills
- Confidentiality; Trust is an integral part of a finance role, along with a high level of confidentiality and discretion
- A team player; as a small hub in an SME we are looking for someone who will contribute to our positive and supportive culture
- People Management; Prior experience in effective people management would be advantageous as team guidance and support is key in this role
What are the benefits of being a TPF team member?
- A starting salary of between £45,000 - £50,000 FTE - Depending on Experience
- 22 days holiday (not including bank holidays) increasing on length of service -pro rata’d for part time

Working Specifics
This is a part time role, 22.5 hours per week covering 3 days with a compulsory Thursday and Friday with a Monday or Tuesday as the third day. 7.5 hours per day, however we can offer flexibility to cover less hours over 4 days. This can be discussed at the interview stage.
There will be an element of hybrid working with 1 day working from home, but being in the office will be of great benefit in the beginning whilst you learn all about us, so whilst you are in your probationary period you will be required to be on site.
The Interview Process
This is a two stage process, the first stage will be a virtual interview with our current Finance Manager and the People Manager, the second will be a face to face interview, at our head office in Astwick with the Finance Manager and CEO, with an opportunity for you to meet the rest of the Finance Hub. A finance related task will be shared prior to the second stage interview to allow you to present a demonstration of your knowledge and understanding when on site.
