About The Organisation

NHS Lanarkshire is comprised of Acute Services (which currently provide hospital based services over 3 main sites), Corporate & Property & Support Services, North and South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnerships which provide integrated primary healthcare and social care services to local communities and surrounding areas.

The Role

As part of a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will carry out care duties for patients, in support of a registered nurse, and will regularly work unsupervised.

The post holder will carry out assigned duties to maintain hygiene, order and safety within the ward environment.

Duties may vary with the type of ward/department and the degree of patient dependency.

In this key role, you will:

Carry out assigned tasks to deliver and support direct patient care, under the direction of a registered nurse, to ensure delivery of a high quality of patient care.
Assist in maintaining and promoting patients’ nutritional intake and fluid balance e.g. serving food and fluids and assisting patients, as required.
Co-operate with and maintain good relationships with other disciplines that are attending and treating patients to maximise patient care.
Maintain good relationships and an emphatic approach to clients’ carers and relatives and refer them to a registered nurse for any questions they may have on the patients’ condition or for any suggestions or complaints that they wish to raise.

What You'll Bring:

SVQ III in healthcare, or working towards, or equivalent experience working within a caring environment/role.
Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary/agency team.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to carry out assigned patient care tasks effectively within a busy environment.
Ability to work unsupervised.
Working knowledge of basic information technology.
