Join Us as a Band 7 Team Lead – Liaison Psychiatry St Richards Hospital, Chichester

Every day in our acute hospitals, people arrive in moments of vulnerability, uncertainty, or crisis. Within that confusion, our team's purpose is to meet those people with expertise, compassion, and hope when they need it most. Our team is Liaison Psychiatry, and now—we’re looking for our next Band 7 Team Lead to help lead and shape this vital service.

You will stand where physical and mental health meet, where a single conversation can shape a patient’s journey, and where our clinical expertise truly changes lives.

As a Band 7 Team Lead, you will play a leading role in delivering expert mental health care to patients presenting with a wide range of psychiatric, psychological, and behavioural needs across the Emergency Department and the inpatient general wards. This is a leadership post with purpose and ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment

You will be an excellent communicator, able to demonstrate strong coordination and leadership across the Mental Health Liaison Team at St Richards Hospital, with a particular focus on;

Managing referrals and overseeing the delivery of care

Monitoring service performance and supporting operational management of the team
Ensuring the team functions in line with the Care Group’s core business objectives
Building trusted relationships with local partners and contributing to the continued development of the urgent care pathway
Improving patient experience and outcomes
Support staff, patients, and families through some of their most challenging moments
Able to lead, inspire, and support others within the team
Committed to clinical excellence, service development, and professional growth

This role is centred around collaborative leadership, driving positive change, and creating a working environment where colleagues can thrive.

We welcome applications from registered mental health nurses, occupational therapists, and social workers with relevant professional registration, who possess strong managerial and leadership skills.

We provide mental health and learning disability care for children, young people, and adults across Sussex, as well as specialist services for children and young people in Hampshire.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference and contribute to the development of innovative ways of working. You will require a strong understanding of the key policies and issues influencing Urgent Care Services, alongside the ability to lead change that enhances both patient and staff experience.

Experience within liaison psychiatry, crisis services, or acute mental health settings, alongside knowledge of physical health and co-morbidities, is highly desirable, although not essential. Previous experience of managing a team of clinicians is also desirable.

You will be fully supported in your development and leadership journey.
