About Us

Metropolitan Art Transport is a specialist fine art logistics company with over 20 years of experience providing bespoke transportation, packing, storage and international shipping services for galleries, museums, private collectors, artists and auction houses. We are committed to the safe handling and transportation of valuable artworks across the UK and Europe, delivering the highest standards of care and professionalism.

The Role

We are looking for a motivated and reliable Art Technician /Driver (LGV) or HGV Class 2 Driver to join our specialist team.

This is a hands-on role involving the transportation, handling and installation of fine art and high-value objects. You will work with a wide range of clients, ensuring artworks are moved safely, securely and professionally.

Removal & packing background and experience is useful.

We're looking for someone who is active, physically fit and enjoys practical work. As artworks can vary significantly in size and weight, the role requires manual handling and a careful, methodical approach.

Key Responsibilities

Safely load, transport and unload fine art and high-value objects.
Ensure the safe handling, protection and security of artworks at all times.
Maintain the security of goods whilst in transit and ensure the vehicle is secure and well maintained.
Carry out vehicle safety checks and report any defects.
Deliver exceptional customer service when working with galleries, museums, auction houses, artists and private collectors.
Assist with artwork installations, collections and exhibition logistics.
Complete all relevant transport and delivery documentation accurately.
Work closely with colleagues to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.

What We're Looking For

Valid LGV OR HGV Class 2 (Category C) driving licence.
Valid Driver CPC qualification and Digital Tachograph Card.
Physically fit and capable of manual handling.
A professional, reliable and positive attitude.
Excellent attention to detail and respect for handling valuable artworks.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Flexible and willing to work occasional weekends or stay away from home when required.
Previous experience in fine art logistics is advantageous but not essential—full training will be provided.
