Full job description

Job Summary

We are looking for a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic Part-Time Charity Shop Assistant to support the daily running of our busy charity shop. This role involves working closely with the Shop Manager and volunteers, so strong teamwork and communication skills are essential.

The successful candidate will help maintain the smooth operation of the shop, support volunteers, maximise sales, and ensure excellent customer service standards are always maintained. You will also cover for the Shop Manager during days off and annual leave.

Key Responsibilities

Support the day-to-day running of the shop in line with current legislation and branch policies
Help achieve agreed sales and profit targets while controlling shop costs
Maximise Gift Aid income from donated goods
Assist with volunteer supervision and support
Process, price, rotate and display donated stock to agreed standards
Maintain attractive shop and window displays
Ensure high standards of cleanliness throughout the premises
Carry out cash handling, banking and security procedures
Promote the work and campaigns of the RSPCA within the local community
Deliver excellent customer service and build positive relationships with
customers and supporters
Ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times
Take responsibility for key holding and shop security when required

Experience

Good teamwork and communication skills
Previous retail or charity shop experience preferred but not essential
Ability to work independently and use initiative
Organised and reliable with good attention to detail
Comfortable working with volunteers and members of the public
Flexible approach to covering holidays and sickness to the needs of the business

This is a rewarding opportunity to support a well-loved charity while gaining valuable retail and team leadership experience.

Please note we are recruiting for someone who can work two days a week which will include weekends.

Pay: £12.71 per hour

Retail sales: 2 years (required)

Licence/Certification:
