Full job description

We are looking for passionate and enthusiastic Bank Nursery Practitioners (Level 2 or

3) and Assistants (Unqualified) who are always ready to join in or carry out any task to

help the team and create a fun, engaging environment for the children attending our

nursery.

Our Bank Team provides cover and assistance on various shifts. We are open from

7:30am to 6:30pm Monday to Friday. A bank role is a flexible, zero hours contract. We

are looking for team members to cover staff holidays and sickness or when the nursery

requires additional support.

About Us: St Luke's Chapel is a brand new nursery, which opened in September 2025.

Due to increasing numbers, we are now looking at growing our team in 2026.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

● Provide a safe, stimulating environment for all children.

● Promote children’s independence, confidence and curiosity through play and

learning

● Build warm, and positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues.

● Keeping records up to date on our Famly App, including care routines and

observations.

● Assist with daily routines, including meals, toileting and indoor and outdoor play.

● Plan and deliver a range of exciting activities and experiences for children

alongside our Nursery Practitioners, in line with the Canopy Curriculum, EYFS

and children’s individual needs and interests.

● To maintain an organised, safe and stimulating room environment.

● Ensure effective supervision of children to ensure they remain safe, and

complete ongoing risk assessments, ensuring play and learning experiences are

safe and age appropriate.

● Fulfil your roles and responsibilities, and legislation duty in relation to

safeguarding children by ensuring you follow safeguarding and child protection

procedures

● Working as part of a larger team to ensure all essential day to day tasks are

completed in line with the nursery demands, ie. Hygiene Standards and Room

Preparation.

● Implement and maintain the nursery's Equality Policy, ensuring that all children,

parents and staff team are valued and included.

● Be adaptable and ready to work in different rooms or age groups as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

- A full and relevant level 2 or 3 childcare or early years qualification (Desirable)

-Experience of working with children aged 0-5 years (Desirable)

- Knowledge of safeguarding practices and regulatory requirements.

- Able to communicate clearly with adults and children

- Ability to support and inspire nursery colleagues to achieve the highest standards of

care and education

- Ability to manage workload and manage time effectively

Hours:

0 Hour Contract to cover staff absence, holidays or additional support in nursery.

As part of this role, shifts may be booked in advance or at short notice to cover staff

absences. These will include various shifts.

This is a flexible working position. The nursery is open between 7.30am and 6:30pm

and you will need to be available to work within these hours. We operate for 51 weeks

of the year.

require you to complete a new DBS application as part of the on-boarding process. All

original certificates and DBS certificates must be seen as part of our safer recruitment checks.

Pay: £13.00-£14.00 per hour
