Full job description

ABOUT YOU:

You are an experienced Welding Inspector with over 10 years in oil and gas, including 6+ years in inspection roles. Certified in CSWIP and/or ISO 9712 Level II, you have strong knowledge of welding processes, NDT, and quality standards. You are proactive, detail-oriented, and uphold high safety and ethical standards.

Required skills and experience:

Preferred Technical diploma
Welding certified 3.1 CSWIP-Equivalent or greater NDT certified ISO 9712 level II (MT-RT-UT) - Equivalent or greater.
Minimum 10 years of experience in the O&G industry
Minimum 6 years of experience as Welding and NDT Inspector.
IT: Good knowledge of MS Office Packages
Facilities: Excellent knowledge of welding and NDT techniques, basic knowledge of metallurgy and welding engineering principles, good knowledge of pressure vessel/piping inspection and certification requirements (PED etc)
Quality: Good knowledge of QA/QC Welding Management Systems
HSE: Basic knowledge of construction and commissioning HSE requirement and standards implementation.
Radioprotection: Basic knowledge of radioprotection principles and main requirements
Flexible and proactive individual with excellent communication skills and problem solving
High ethical standard for own and team members' work

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Welding Specialist is responsible for performing, supervising, and ensuring high-quality welding and fabrication activities in accordance with project specifications, engineering drawings, safety standards, and applicable industry codes.

Welding Operations

Perform welding activities using approved welding procedures.
Execute various welding processes including:
SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding)
GTAW/TIG (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding)
GMAW/MIG (Gas Metal Arc Welding)
FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding)
SAW (Submerged Arc Welding), where applicable.
Weld carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and alloy materials as required.
Prepare and fit materials prior to welding.

Fabrication & Assembly

Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
Fabricate and assemble structural or piping components.
Perform cutting, grinding, beveling, and finishing operations.
Ensure dimensional accuracy and alignment of fabricated parts.

Quality Assurance & Inspection

Verify weld quality in accordance with applicable standards and specifications.
Conduct visual inspections before, during, and after welding.
Coordinate or assist with NDT inspections such as:
Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
Radiographic Testing (RT)
Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
Dye Penetrant Testing (PT)
Ensure compliance with approved WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications) and PQR documentation.

Safety Compliance

Follow all site safety regulations and permit-to-work systems.
Ensure proper use of PPE and welding safety equipment.
Maintain fire prevention and hot-work safety measures.
Identify and report workplace hazards.

Equipment & Maintenance

Operate and maintain welding machines and related tools.
Inspect equipment before use and report defects.
Ensure proper storage and handling of welding consumables and gases.

Documentation & Reporting

Maintain welding logs and production records.
Record weld traceability information and material heat numbers.
Submit inspection reports and daily progress updates.
Assist in preparing turnover and completion documentation.

Deliverables - The Welding Specialist shall provide:

Completed welds meeting project specifications
Inspection and quality records
Welding activity reports
Material traceability documentation
Safety compliance records
