Workshop Fabrication Assistant

South Devon Welding
Near Kingsbridge, South Devon

£12.50 - £16.00 per hour depending on experience

Full-time | Permanent

South Devon Welding is looking for a motivated Workshop Fabrication Assistant to join our growing team.

This is a hands-on role within a busy fabrication workshop, assisting with a variety of steel, stainless steel and aluminium fabrication projects. The position would suit someone with practical skills, a good work ethic and an interest in welding, fabrication, engineering or manufacturing.

Duties include:

Assisting fabricators and welders
Preparing materials for fabrication
Cutting, grinding and finishing components
Loading and unloading materials
General workshop organisation and housekeeping
Assisting with installations when required
Operating hand and power tools safely
Learning fabrication and welding techniques

Essential:

Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Reliable and punctual
Physically fit and capable of manual work
Full UK driving licence
Ability to work safely and follow instructions

Desirable:

Previous workshop, construction or engineering experience
Welding experience (MIG/TIG/MMA)
Forklift experience
Ability to read engineering drawings
