Full job description

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Nursery Lunch Time Assistant to join our childcare team. The successful candidate will support the smooth running of lunchtime routines, ensuring children enjoy a safe, nutritious, and enjoyable meal experience. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about early childhood education and working with children, providing valuable experience in a nurturing environment.

Duties

Assist children during lunchtime, helping them to eat their meals and encouraging good table manners
Ensure children are supervised at all times during lunch periods, maintaining a safe environment
Support with the organisation and setting up of meal areas, including preparing tables and cleaning after meals
Engage with children in a friendly and caring manner, fostering positive social interactions
Support with basic behavioural management and promote good behaviour during lunch times
Collaborate with nursery staff to ensure smooth transition between activities and meal times
Assist with light cleaning duties related to meal areas, including clearing tables and sanitising surfaces

Requirements

Experience working with children in a nursery or childcare setting is highly desirable
Knowledge of early childhood education principles and childcare best practices
Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to interact effectively with children, parents, and staff
Ability to work well as part of a team and demonstrate patience and caring nature
