Role Overview
Our dedicated Fire Advisory Solutions team at RLB proactively work with both existing and new-build projects for a diverse range of clients in all sectors of the Industry, together with providing various services that can be summarised into design, remediation and assurance. This includes developing fire strategies and detailed design, surveying / quality monitoring of active and passive fire protection systems, fire risk assessments, etc..
We are a sector focused business, operating in the Commercial, Residential, Education, Healthcare and Blue Light sectors. Our engineers and consultants work in close contact with their clients from inception to completion of projects, advising them, amongst other things, on design matters, value for money and contractual issues that arise during the projects. We pride ourselves on the quality of our service to our clients and enjoy long term relationships with them. At RLB we are focused on ‘Customer Service Excellence’.
Due to our growing and diverse workload, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an Architectural Technologist to join us to work alongside our existing team assist in the production of architectural design information with the North Fire Team.
Role Responsibilities
Reporting to the Partner / Associate responsible for the North Fire Team, duties will include (but not limited to):
- Working as part of the Design Team within the Fire Advisory Solutions Department, assisting team members with general design requirements, including preparation of plans, elevations, detail drawings and measured surveys
- Effectively managing information issue and revision through the use of drawing registers and online document management systems
- Actively contributing to RLB, sharing knowledge promoting ideas and innovation to constantly improve our design services
- Be actively involved in the research of new construction techniques, materials and products, design standards and technology associated with construction and design
- Assisting with ensuring RLB design standards are in accordance with relevant British Standards, Legislation and design codes
- Carry out measured surveys in accordance with RICS code of measuring practice
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a bright and resourceful individual who is eager to grow their career as a designer whilst helping to add new skills to RLB’s design service.
Qualifications
- Working towards MCIAT chartered status
- Technical background with a degree, or working towards a degree, in Architectural Design
Experience
- Competent use of design software, in particular Bluebeam and AutoCad
- Well organised, diligent, proactive, assertive, well-disciplined and commercially astute
- Excellent communication, customer service skills
- A team player, outgoing, flexible and ambitious
