Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a skilled Carpenter specialising in Fire Doors to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining fire-resistant doors in commercial and residential buildings. This role requires a strong understanding of carpentry principles, safety standards, and relevant building codes. The properties are often occupied and therefore a personable approach is always required.

The position offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects, ensuring safety and compliance across various sites.

The work ethic is key and training and assistance can be given to the right candidate and can lead to other work through our sister company V Developments Ltd

Duties

Measure, cut, assemble, and install fire doors according to schematics and technical specifications
Read and interpret construction drawings, schematics, and technical manuals
Use hand tools and power tools efficiently to complete carpentry tasks
Ensure all installations meet fire safety regulations and building standards
Collaborate with other trades such as roofing, plumbing, electrical, and masonry teams as needed
Conduct inspections of completed work to ensure quality and safety standards are met
Maintain a clean and organised work environment, adhering to health and safety protocols

Experience

Proven experience in carpentry with a focus on fire door installation or similar construction roles
Knowledge of roofing, plumbing, welding, electrical systems, masonry, and construction painting is advantageous
Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment
Familiarity with schematics, technical drawings, and construction plans
Experience working with fire safety standards and building codes related to fire-resistant structures
Ability to read technical manuals and schematics accurately
Previous involvement in construction projects requiring precise craftsmanship and attention to detail

Candidates should possess a strong work ethic, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work safely within a team environment. This role offers an engaging opportunity for experienced carpenters committed to quality workmanship and safety compliance.

Pay: £20.00-£28.00 per hour

Experience:

Carpentry: 4 years (preferred)
