The team sits within the Operational Delivery Profession (ODP), supporting DVLAs work in validation, compliance, and enforcement activities to ensure effective service delivery and regulatory standards. The department plays a key role in ensuring compliance and maintaining high operational standards. Within this environment, the team manages the agencys Debt Collection Contract to National Audit Office (NAO) standards, ensuring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met. Working collaboratively, the team engages closely with the supplier to monitor performance, resolve issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives. It also provides specialist advice and support to the Enforcement operational areas based locally and remotely across DVLA . The team operates in a people-focused, inclusive environment that values collaboration, recognition, and development, working in line with Civil Service values to deliver consistent, high-quality outcomes for customers.

DVLA roles: Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency - Department for Transport Careers

Job description

Within a collaborative operational team, you will manage DVLAs Debt Collection Contract, ensuring compliance with National Audit Office (NAO) standards and delivery against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). You will work closely with the supplier to monitor performance, mitigate risks, and resolve issues. The role also involves providing specialist advice across DVLA's Enforcement function, supporting informed decision-making, continuous improvement, and high-quality service delivery within a supportive, people-focused environment.

Your responsibilities will include, but arent limited to:

Monitoring contract performance against KPIs and SLAs and driving compliance.
Maintaining and improving quality standards, efficiency and effectiveness to ensure the Enforcement unit is supported in day to day operations.
Stay up to date with changes by working with other units, agencies and external organisations to share information, identify opportunities and manage proposed changes.
Managing registered files and ensuring compliance requirements are met.

To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience:

Experience in operational leadership and contract management is essential, particularly within debt management, ensuring delivery against KPIs, SLAs, and quality standards.
A high level of adaptability and the ability to work independently is necessary, demonstrating initiative, a willingness to learn, and confidence in managing changing priorities.
Experience in using data and insight to support delivery and decision-making at pace is required, enabling timely, evidence-based decisions, effective risk management, and continuous improvement.

Working hours, office attendance and travel requirements

Full time roles consist of 37 hours per week.

Whilst we welcome applications from those looking to work with us on a part time basis, there is a business requirement for the successful candidate to be able to work at least 35 hours per week.

This role is suitable for hybrid working, which is a non-contractual arrangement where a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements.

The expectation at present is a minimum of 60% of your working time a month will be spent at either your designated workplace (one of the locations cited in the advert) or, when required for business reasons, in another office/work location/visiting stakeholders. Your designated workplace will be your contractual place of work. There may be occasions where you are required to attend above the minimum expectation.

Regular travel to other offices will be required, which involve overnight stays.
