Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Light Vehicle Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing a variety of light vehicles to ensure optimal performance and safety. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for mechanical work and a keen eye for detail to develop their career within a professional environment. The position involves working with modern diagnostic tools and equipment, providing high-quality customer service, and contributing to the overall efficiency of our fleet operations.

Duties

Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on light vehicles, including oil changes, tyre rotations, and brake checks.
Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics and diagnostic equipment.
Repair or replace faulty components using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment as necessary.
Perform complex repairs such as engine overhauls, transmission repairs, and suspension work.
Read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics to facilitate accurate repairs.
Assist with assembly and disassembly of vehicle parts during repair processes.
Maintain detailed records of all work carried out on each vehicle.
Ensure all repairs meet safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
Provide excellent customer service by explaining repair procedures and recommendations clearly to clients.
Assist in maintaining a clean, organised workshop environment conducive to safe working practices.

Experience

Proven experience working as a light vehicle mechanic or in a similar role within the automotive industry.
Strong mechanical knowledge with familiarity in vehicle systems such as brakes, steering, suspension, and electrical components.
Competence in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic machinery.
Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and assembly instructions accurately.
Experience in performing maintenance tasks including fluid changes, tyre fitting, and general repairs.
Knowledge of health & safety regulations related to workshop environments is preferred.
Excellent problem-solving skills with an aptitude for troubleshooting complex mechanical issues.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality. This position is ideal for motivated individuals eager to utilise their technical skills in a dynamic setting while delivering exceptional service to clients.
