About Us

HESA Medical Centre is a friendly and progressive GP practice providing high-quality care to our local community. We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our dedicated clinical team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a caring nature, and a strong focus on delivering patient-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake new patient health checks and baseline observations (BP, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation, etc.)
Support practice nurses with chronic disease management and health promotion programmes
Assist with wound care, dressings, and clinical tasks as directed
Carry out BMI checks, ECGs, and specimen handling
Act as a chaperone during consultations and examinations
Facilitate 24-hour BP monitoring and advise patients accordingly
Ensure clinical rooms are adequately stocked, cleaned, and prepared for each session
Manage clinical waste and infection control in line with practice policy
When trained:
Perform venepuncture
Administer flu vaccinations
Carry out ear irrigation under supervision
Support minor operations and deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate
Participate in practice audits, local initiatives, and shared learning sessions
Assist with opening and closing procedures as per rota

About You

Previous experience as an HCA in a GP surgery or clinical setting preferred
Phlebotomy, ECG, and vaccination training desirable (training can be provided)
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Confident using clinical systems and working as part of a multidisciplinary team
