The role:
As a Catering Supervisor, you will play a key role in leading a team of Catering Assistants to deliver a high-quality catering service for patients, staff, visitors and hospitality functions. You will oversee all aspects of food preparation, meal assembly, regeneration, service, distribution, cleaning and food safety, while ensuring compliance with NHS policies, food hygiene legislation and health and safety standards. You will also support the day-to-day operation of catering systems, supervise staff, provide training and guidance, and help ensure services are delivered efficiently, safely and within budget.
This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Heath and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).

Key responsibilities:
You will supervise Catering Assistants to ensure daily work is completed efficiently and in line with agreed schedules, NHS policies and food hygiene legislation. You will oversee food preparation, cooking, meal regeneration, meal picking and packing, service delivery and wash-up activities, ensuring consistently high standards of quality, presentation and food safety.
You will monitor stock rotation, maintain HACCP documentation, support the use of catering systems including SSTS, Menu Pick and Peco's, and undertake administrative duties such as staff rotas.
You will provide technical guidance, induction and ongoing training to staff, support the Catering Manager with staff development and performance reviews, monitor Health & Safety, COSHH and risk assessments, respond to patient and staff feedback and complaints, and ensure catering services are delivered safely, effectively and within agreed budgets.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- Knowledge of catering services and food preparation processes (full induction provided).

Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate (training provided if required).

Knowledge of meals regeneration and food service procedures (training provided).

Good communication and customer care skills.

Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and COSHH (training provided).

Knowledge of Manual Handling procedures (training provided).

Knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control practices (training provided).

Experience of supervising or leading staff.

Ability to provide training and support to team members.

Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload effectively.

Experience of using IT systems and standard computer applications.
