Full job description

As a Band 5 Staff Nurse, you will be a key member of the multidisciplinary team, responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centred care within a clinical setting. This role is suitable for registered nurses and provides opportunities to develop clinical skills, professional knowledge, and leadership capabilities.

You will be accountable for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of care, ensuring it is evidence-based and tailored to individual patient needs. Working under the guidance of senior nursing staff, you will participate in maintaining a safe, effective, and compassionate care environment.

The post holder is expected to work collaboratively with patients, families, and the wider healthcare team to promote health, prevent illness, and support recovery. You will also contribute to maintaining high standards of care, patient safety, and clinical governance.

This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route. Sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds, and any role-specific criteria. For example, applicants for the Senior HCA role must be able to evidence a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the same role to qualify for sponsorship.

If you are applying using a Graduate visa as your right to work, you must have a minimum of 18 months remaining on your visa at time of application.

Provide safe, effective, and patient-centred nursing care

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual care needs

Administer medications and treatments in line with guidelines

Monitor patients’ conditions and escalate concerns appropriately

Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team

Support and communicate effectively with patients and their families

Uphold standards of infection prevention, safety, and dignity

Participate in training, development, and quality improvement activities

The Band 5 Staff Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based nursing care while ensuring patient safety, dignity, and wellbeing. Carry out clinical assessments and develop, implement, and review care plans

Safely administer medications, treatments, and clinical interventions

Monitor patient progress and recognise and respond to clinical deterioration

Maintain accurate, clear, and timely patient records

Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and the wider healthcare team

Promote a safe clinical environment, including infection prevention and risk management

Support health promotion, education, and patient discharge planning

Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated care

Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement, and service development

Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain NMC registration

Support and supervise students and less experienced staff where appropriate
