Full job description

Overview

You and Me Counselling are looking to recruit a full-time therapist and assistant service manager to join our busy and expanding counselling service, during term time only.

You and Me Counselling is a charitable organisation established in 2011. We are a counselling and psychotherapy service based in Hornchurch, Essex that works with children, young people, adults, and their families in the boroughs of Havering, Barking & Dagenham, Redbridge, and Waltham Forest. Our counsellors and therapists work both within schools and from our own counselling rooms located in Hornchurch and Ilford. As of 2018, we are proud to announce we are an approved service provider in the London Borough of Havering.

You and Me Counselling are an accredited organisational member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). This means we are fully governed by the BACP’s Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

Term

The job role will be for initial period of 1 year with the potential to continue employment subject to successful development in the 1st year.

Hours of Work

The total weekly hours will be 40 per week, term time only.

It is expected that the hours of duty will be 9 am to 5 pm, one or two late evenings per week with one hour off for lunch, Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday mornings.

This role will involve travel between Havering and surrounding boroughs.

Qualifications/Experience:

Diploma/Degree in counselling or psychotherapy
Evidence of working towards BACP Counsellor/Psychotherapy accreditation or equivalent.
Minimum one (1) years post, qualifying experience of providing counselling to clients with common mental health problems, particularly working with young people. This experience will need to be evidenced through references both from a supervisor and line manager at application.

Duties and Key Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day support, guidance and oversight to counsellors, therapists, students and other staff as delegated by the Service Manager/CEO
Deputise for the Service Manager/CEO as required, ensuring continuity of day-to-day service operations in their absence.
Provide counselling services to clients at school, in the office, or a home visit
Confer and liaise with parents or guardians, teachers, administrators, and other professionals to discuss children's progress, discuss behaviour or academic issues, to determine priorities for clients and their resource needs
Maintain accurate and complete client records as required by BACP/law, district policies, and administrative regulations
Assist in interviewing new staff, provide induction and support for students in placement
Attend meetings locally and nationally
Assist in communication with clients, including client letters and clinical reports
Participate in regular appraisal/performance review and work towards agreed professional and service objectives
Reporting to funders
Maintain Client Records and monitoring sheet
Partnership development, presentations and training with referral partners
Support the allocation and monitoring of staff/student caseloads and ensure concerns relating to workload, performance or client safety are escalated appropriately.
· Ensure clear professional objectives are identified, discussed and reviewed with senior therapists on a regular basis as part of continuing professional development (CPD).
Attend clinical/managerial supervision on a regular basis as agreed with Manager.
Attend relevant conferences / workshops in line with identified professional objectives.
Support the implementation and review of organisational policies, procedures and working practices, ensuring staff and students are aware of relevant requirements.
Participate in service improvement by highlighting issues and implementing changes in practice.
Promote and maintain links with Primary Care and Secondary Care Staff to help co-ordinate the provision of an effective Psychological Therapies Service.
Support the monitoring of clinical quality, record keeping and adherence to organisational policies, professional standards and the BACP Ethical Framework

Ability to keep accurate records and complete monitoring & evaluation within agreed deadlines.
Ability to work within the confines of confidentiality.
Ability to manage confidential information within project and organisational guidelines.
Able to use initiative, adaptable and flexible.
Must have clean Driving License and be able to drive between the various schools (mileage will be covered)
Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating, professional and accrediting bodies (e.g. BPS, UKCP, BACP, BABCP), and keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by NHS England and National Institute for Clinical Excellence.

Training

The successful candidate can expect a full induction, a DBS check, and to be trained in Child-protection and Safeguarding as required by You & Me Counselling, and the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Pay: £28,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
