Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Lawn Maintenance Operative to join our team. This role involves maintaining and enhancing outdoor landscapes through gardening. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a passion for horticulture, and the ability to operate a range of power tools and machinery.

Duties

Mowing lawns, trimming hedges, and maintaining flower beds to ensure aesthetic appeal
Using hand tools and power tools for planting, pruning, fertilising, and general garden upkeep
Conducting routine maintenance on equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance
Assisting with construction tasks related to landscape features or garden structures
Installing, repairing, and maintaining irrigation systems to promote healthy plant growth
Clearing debris, soil excavation, and preparing sites for planting or construction work
Monitoring plant health and applying horticultural practices as needed
Ensuring all work areas are safe, clean, and organised in compliance with health and safety standards

Requirements

Proven experience in landscape maintenance, gardening, or horticulture is preferred
Mechanical knowledge related to operating power tools, excavators, and irrigation systems
Familiarity with hand tools such as spades, rakes, pruners, and lawnmowers
Basic understanding of construction principles relevant to outdoor projects
Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting heavy equipment or materials and working outdoors in various weather conditions
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in completing tasks efficiently
A proactive attitude with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
