About Shaolin Temple UK

Shaolin Temple UK is dedicated to promoting traditional Shaolin martial arts, meditation, and Chinese culture. We welcome individuals from all backgrounds who share an interest in Shaolin philosophy, wellness, and cultural exchange.We have students from all walks of life, backgrounds and ages (including children), as well as a temple cat named Panda.

We are seeking a Volunteer Receptionist to join our team and serve as the first point of contact for visitors, students, and community members. This role is ideal for someone friendly, organized, and passionate about cultural exchange.

Role Duties

Greet and assist visitors, students, and guests in a welcoming manner.
Answer phone calls, emails, and basic inquiries.
Support class registrations, scheduling, and event sign-ups.
Assist with cultural center activities and events when required.
Work closely with instructors and staff to ensure smooth daily operations.

Requirements

Essential:

Good communication skills in English (Chinese language is a plus).
Friendly, approachable, and reliable.
Interest in Shaolin martial arts, meditation, or Chinese culture.
Basic organizational and computer skills.
Previous customer service or front desk experience is helpful but not required.
At least basic IT skills and willing to learn necessary systems e.g. uploading new course information to our website

Desirable:

Undergraduate degree utilising relevant skills (post-graduate degree even better)
Relevant work experience
Mandarin Chinese language

Hours

Part-time 2 to 3 days per week, 3.30pm – 8.30pm
