Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cafe Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and beverages, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. As a Cafe Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our customers enjoy their experience while adhering to food safety standards.

We are looking for someone to do 1 fixed day per week to start with and some Saturdays as needed. There is potential for more hours, especially as cover in school holidays and as the Café grows. Please only apply if the working hours suits you as we cannot guarantee more than 1 day per week for now.

Duties

Prepare high‑quality coffees and hot drinks consistently
Serve customers with a warm, positive, and genuinely friendly attitude
Take orders accurately and handle payments confidently
Keep the counter, coffee machine, and seating areas clean and tidy
Restock supplies and support the smooth running of the café
Work well under pressure during busy periods while staying upbeat

Requirements

Previous barista experience is highly desirable but not essential; training will be provided.
Good understanding of food safety practices to ensure the highest standards are met.
Excellent time management skills to efficiently handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Basic mathematical skills for handling cash transactions accurately.
A friendly attitude with strong communication skills to engage effectively with customers and colleagues.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as required. If you are passionate about providing excellent service in a vibrant café setting, we would love to hear from you!
