We're one of the UK's fastest-growing wholesale bakeries, supplying handmade, premium bakes to some of the most recognisable names in food and culture, from Selfridges and Tate to London's best independent cafés, coffee roasters and hospitality groups.

As we continue to grow, we're looking for an exceptional Head of Cakes to lead one of the most important areas of our production operation.

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced and hands-on Head of Cakes to lead our cake production team at our London bakery.

This is a leadership role for someone who combines technical baking expertise with strong people management skills. You'll be responsible for maintaining the quality, consistency and efficiency of our cake production while developing the team around you.

You'll work closely with senior management to ensure our cake range continues to meet the standards our customers expect, while helping us improve processes, develop new products and scale production as the business grows.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll take ownership of the cake department and everything that comes with it.

That means:

Leading, coaching and developing the cake production team
Maintaining exceptional standards of quality, consistency and presentation
Overseeing the production of our traybakes, loaf cakes and seasonal cake ranges
Managing production planning, scheduling and resource allocation
Monitoring productivity and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
Ensuring compliance with all food safety, hygiene and health & safety standards
Working with senior management on product development and innovation
Managing ingredients, stock usage and wastage within the department
Helping build a positive, accountable and high-performing bakery culture

What We're Looking For

This role suits someone who takes pride in their craft, leads by example and enjoys building strong teams.

You'll likely have:

Proven experience leading a cake, pastry or bakery production team
Strong technical knowledge of cake production, baking processes and recipe development
Experience working within a fast-paced commercial bakery, food manufacturing or hospitality environment
Excellent leadership and communication skills
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
The ability to remain calm under pressure while maintaining high standards
A thorough understanding of food safety and health & safety requirements

Nice to Have

Professional baking or pastry qualifications
Experience working within large-scale artisan bakery production
A passion for innovation and product development
Experience introducing process improvements and training programmes

The Details

Full-time, permanent position
Five shifts per week, nine hours per shift on a rotating schedule
Based at our London bakery
Right to work in the UK required
Salary circa £50,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
