Mathematics Teacher

Mirren Park School

£33, 406.11 - £46, 195.25 per annum depending on experience

Working hours:
08:45–16:00, Monday to Thursday
08:45–15:00, Friday
Term time only

Are you passionate about helping young people build confidence in mathematics and develop skills that support their future pathways? Join our team and make a meaningful difference for learners who need a more flexible, relational approach to education.

Many of our pupils arrive having faced challenges in traditional education settings and may experience anxiety, gaps in learning or low confidence in mathematics. As a teacher at Mirren Park, you will have the opportunity to rebuild trust in learning, develop resilience, and support young people to make progress at a pace that is right for them.

We are looking for committed professionals who are keen to develop as trauma informed practitioners. You will be supported to tailor mathematical teaching to meet individual needs and to create an environment where young people feel safe, valued and understood. This role would suit someone who believes mathematics can be made accessible, relevant and meaningful for all learners.

Classes are small and supported by high staff-to-pupil ratios, allowing a strong focus on relationships, responsive teaching and individual progress.

About Mirren Park School

Mirren Park School supports young people aged 11 to 18 with a wide range of additional support needs, including social, emotional and mental health needs, autism and complex presentations. We deliver a full curriculum experience that is structured to be supportive, relevant and engaging, enabling young people to re-engage with learning and achieve positive outcomes.

Role Requirements

An appropriate teaching qualification
Full registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland in Mathematics, or eligibility and willingness to obtain registration
Ability to plan, deliver and develop a relevant and engaging mathematics curriculum
Strong classroom organisation and supportive behaviour management skills
Ability to assess, track and report on pupil progress to inform learning and teaching
Ability to prepare pupils for qualifications or accreditation appropriate to their needs and next steps
Actively contributing to the school community and its positive ethos
Ability to contribute to school improvement planning and self-evaluation
Commitment to ongoing professional learning and supporting the development of colleagues, including probationer and student teachers.
Experience within an additional support needs or specialist setting is welcomed but not essential, as training and ongoing support will be provided.
