Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant/Cook to join our team. This role involves supporting the preparation and cooking of meals in a busy kitchen environment, ensuring high standards of food safety and quality. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, experience in food preparation, and a keen eye for detail. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop culinary skills within a professional setting.

Responsibilities

Assist with food preparation, including chopping, peeling, and portioning ingredients
Cook and assemble meals according to specified recipes and standards
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes and sanitising surfaces
Ensure all food safety regulations are adhered to at all times
Support the team during busy service periods by serving food and attending to customer needs
Help with inventory management by checking stock levels and notifying supervisors of shortages
Follow health and safety guidelines to prevent accidents or contamination in the kitchen

Requirements

Previous experience in a kitchen environment or restaurant setting is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
Knowledge of food preparation techniques and basic cooking skills
Understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Good organisational skills with attention to detail
Flexibility to work shifts as required, including weekends if necessary
A positive attitude, teamwork spirit, and a genuine interest in culinary arts
