Who We Are

SupaJam is a music focused post-16 Specialist Provider, supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged 16 - 25 year olds across our five bases in Swanley, Canterbury, Brighton, Earls Court and Wandsworth.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to support teachers and students in a creative environment at an innovative and forward thinking music college in Canterbury. This role would suit candidates with teaching experience and experience of working with young people with special educational needs (SEND). SupaJam Canterbury opened with in 2019 and now is one of our largest colleges!

To continue the growth and educational excellence SupaJam Canterbury are now seeking a Senior LSP to join our team. Answering to the College Lead , this role will be an integral part of our organisation as they deliver the Industry Access sessions and support the day to day running of SupaJam.

We are looking for someone:

To uphold and support the distinctive ethos of the college
To complete a HLTA qualification
Demonstrable experience of music and/or the music industry
GCSE’s or equivalent in Maths and English, grade C or above / 4-9 / equivalent
Experience of working with one or more pupils with SEN in a substantive post in a mainstream or special school, including an awareness of the SEND Code of Practice
Experience, and enjoyment, of working with young people, ideally aged 16-25
Experience of planning and leading teaching and learning activities (under supervision)
Knowledge of how statutory and non-statutory frameworks for the school curriculum relate to theage and ability ranges of the learners they support
Effective communication and interpersonal skills with both adults and children
Good ICT skills – can also use ICT effectively to support learning
Ability to work independently and use own initiative
Empathetic and sensitive
Patient and tenacious
Creative with the ability to present ideas and information in different ways
Firm but fair with the ability to ensure clear expectations and boundaries
Excellent organisational skills
Ability to build relationships with students, teachers and parents/guardians and work collaboratively
A desire to pursue a career in education would also be an advantage
