About the role

We are looking for a Communications and Marketing Assistant to join our Surgical Sciences administration team. The role is based at the John Radcliffe Hospital, with the opportunity to agree a pattern of regular remote working with your line manager. Some flexibility will be required, as you will occasionally be expected to attend events outside your usual working pattern.

Working closely with the Communications Lead, you will support the delivery of the department’s communications and marketing plan.

This is a varied and dynamic role at the heart of the department’s communications, marketing, and events activity. You will support a broad range of internal and external initiatives, taking responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of key communications activities and helping to ensure that content and campaigns are timely, engaging, and effective.

Your responsibilities will include managing the department’s social media channels, creating and publishing content for the website, intranet and newsletters, maintaining mailing lists and supporting the planning, promotion and delivery of departmental events.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in communications and marketing within the higher education sector, gaining hands-on experience across a wide range of communications channels and projects.

About you

You will have a good general level of education (A-Level or equivalent professional experience) and demonstrable experience of delivering communications activities across both digital and print channels. You will be a creative thinker with excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, able to produce engaging content for a range of audiences. The role requires excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail, confidence in working with a wide range of stakeholders, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while consistently delivering high-quality work.

This full-time post is available from September 2026 and is permanent. We would be willing to consider applications for part-time hours.
