Job Overview

We are seeking two dedicated and experienced Lead Practitioners in Residential Child Care to oversee and support the wellbeing, safety and development of children within our new residential setting. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with residential childcare experience who are ready to take the next step in their career and join an expanding, family-orientated organisation. As part of the launch of a new setting, you will have the opportunity to help create a nurturing, caring and positive environment where young people can thrive. The successful candidates will play a vital role in maintaining high standards of care, promoting a safe and supportive home, and leading a team of care staff with compassion and professionalism. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in young people’s lives through strong leadership and expert childcare practice.

As part of the role sleep ins are required, this is paid at £65 per night.

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise a team of residential care workers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care aligned with organisational policies and child protection standards
Develop, implement, and review personalised care plans in collaboration with children, families, and multi-agency professionals
Provide direct support to children, promoting their emotional wellbeing, independence, and social development
Maintain accurate records of care activities, incidents, and progress in compliance with regulatory requirements
Facilitate effective communication within the team and with external agencies to ensure cohesive support for children
Organise activities and programmes that promote learning, development, and positive behaviour
Ensure health and safety procedures are adhered to at all times within the residential setting
Drive organisational initiatives to improve service quality and compliance standards

Qualifications

Proven experience working with children in a residential or childcare setting
Childcare qualification (e.g., Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent) or higher
Demonstrable experience in developing care plans and implementing individualised support strategies
Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with children, families, colleagues, and external agencies
Valid driving licence recognised for work purposes is desirable
Good IT skills for record keeping, reporting, and communication purposes
Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and guide a team towards shared goals
Commitment to safeguarding principles and child protection policies
