The role:
A highly skilled and motivated Band 6 Registered Learning Disability Nurse working within the East Renfrewshire Learning Disability Team. The role involves delivering evidencebased interventions, supporting individuals with learning disabilities and complex health needs, and contributing to highquality, personcentred care within an integrated multidisciplinary service.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
Permanent, Full-time
Shift Pattern - 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Base location- Barrhead Health and Care Centre
Key responsibilities:
Manage an independent caseload and ensure high standards of care quality, safety and clinical activity.
Provide clinical leadership, advice and guidance across key quality areas, including effective interventions, patient experience and care environment.
Contribute to team leadership and ongoing service development to meet the needs of patients and families.
Act as a role model by mentoring, teaching, assessing and supporting students and colleagues.
Work collaboratively with senior nurses across the HSCP and promote the role of Learning Disability nursing to internal and external partners.
Build transparent and effective networks with stakeholders and partner services.
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidencebased care for individuals with complex and changing needs.
Deliver specialist clinical interventions and treatment to meet assessed healthcare needs.
Develop liaison between community and specialist organisations (acute services, local authorities, voluntary organisations).
Support strategic aims, research and development of the community learning disability service and nurse education.
Implement and monitor quality assurance systems within a Clinical Governance framework.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
Registered Learning Disability Nurse with extensive experience.
Ability to evidence delivery of evidencebased interventions.
Strong understanding of legislation relevant to adults with learning disabilities.
Experience in Positive Behavioural Support (PBS).
Advanced communication skills.
Knowledge and expertise in promoting and maintaining optimum health for adults with learning disabilities and complex needs.
Experience working within a multidisciplinary team (advantageous).
Ability to demonstrate professional leadership regularly.
Understanding of issues impacting adults with learning disabilities and appropriate actions to support them.
