Full job description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the North Sector Rheumatology team in Glasgow. The post holder will be part of a forward thinking, dynamic multi disciplinary team providing highly specialised care to patients with Rheumatological disease.

You need to have a live NMC UK pin in order to be considered for this post.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

This is a permanent, part-time post of 28.8 hours
This role is based at Stobhill ACH
The shift pattern is Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00

Key responsibilities:

Contribute, as part of the multidisciplinary team, to the development, implementation and maintenance of policies, procedures, standards and protocols of the department and division to ensure adherence to, and delivery of the highest level of patient care at all times
By participating in clinical audit, be responsible for ensuring the quality of patient care is assessed and implemented to ensure maintenance of standards of care and practice
Manage ward/department staff daily including for example, induction, recruitment, appraisal, performance, and absence management
Lead, motivate and retain the nursing team, enabling educational needs of nurses to be met reflecting service requirements and developments
Contribute to, and support, the provision of clinical practice placements for pre- and post-registration students to ensure fulfilment of curriculum requirements and provision of educational opportunities
Be responsible for the provision of a high-quality and cost-effective service with an awareness of budgetary control
Ensure that your own personal development and professional education needs are identified and met
Demonstrate awareness of research and implement research findings at ward/department level to ensure best practice based on evidence

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Registered Nurses on the NMC Register (Part 1 & 12)
Significant post-registration experience
Proven managerial and clinical skills
Evidence of continuing professional development
Educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience
