Luxury Retail Sales Advisor Full Time

Laird Hatters – Cambridge

Location: Cambridge

Join an established British headwear business

Laird Hatters is an independent, founder-led British hatmaker and luxury retailer established in 2009. We have stores in London, Oxford and Cambridge, supported by our own UK workrooms and a team with specialist knowledge of traditional and contemporary headwear.

Our wider group also includes Christys’ London 1773, giving our team the opportunity to work with two distinctive British headwear brands and an extensive collection of hats, caps, clothing and accessories.

We are now looking for an experienced and commercially minded Luxury Sales Advisor or Senior Sales Advisor to join our Central London retail team.

This is a consultative sales role rather than simply a till-based retail position. You will advise a varied local and international clientele on fit, shape, colour, proportion, styling and occasion, while developing the specialist product knowledge for which Laird Hatters is known.

You will be expected to build genuine customer relationships, contribute to individual and store sales targets and help create a warm, knowledgeable and memorable in-store experience.

We will appoint at either Sales Advisor or Senior Sales Advisor level according to experience.

The role

Your responsibilities will include:

* Providing confident, informed and highly personal customer service.

* Advising customers on hat and cap fitting, styling, materials, care and suitability.

* Identifying customer requirements and confidently converting enquiries into sales.

* Working towards individual and team sales targets while maintaining a service-led approach.

* Developing repeat business through client follow-up and relationship building.

* Maintaining excellent visual merchandising and store presentation standards.

* Processing sales, exchanges, stock movements and customer orders accurately.

* Developing detailed knowledge of Laird Hatters, Christys’ London and our wider product collections.

* Supporting stock control, deliveries and general store operations.

* Working flexibly across our Central London stores when required.

Additional Senior Sales Advisor responsibilities

Candidates appointed at Senior Sales Advisor level will also:

* Act as a keyholder and undertake store opening and closing procedures.

* Lead by example on the sales floor and help drive daily sales performance.

* Support, coach and motivate less experienced members of the team.

* Assist with daily briefings, task allocation and maintaining store standards.

* Resolve more complex customer service matters confidently and professionally.

* Deputise for the Store Manager or Assistant Manager when required.

* Help monitor sales results, conversion, average transaction value and other store performance measures.

About you

For the Sales Advisor position, we are looking for someone with:

* Previous experience in premium retail, fashion, accessories, tailoring, hospitality or another consultative customer-facing environment.

* A genuine interest in style, craftsmanship and quality products.

* The confidence to approach customers, understand their requirements and recommend appropriate products.

* A professional, articulate and approachable manner.

* Commercial awareness and a willingness to work towards sales targets.

* Reliability and availability for regular weekend work.

For the Senior Sales Advisor position, you should additionally have:

* A strong record of success in premium or luxury retail sales.

* Experience working with individual or store sales targets.

* Previous keyholding, supervisory or floor-leadership responsibility.

* The ability to coach colleagues and maintain standards in a manager’s absence.

* Confidence dealing with high-value purchases and more demanding customer situations.

Experience in headwear is not essential. Full specialist training in hat fitting, styling, materials, construction and product care will be provided.
