About the Role
PPG Fabrications is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented PDI Technician to carry out the final inspection, testing and preparation of our premium tipping bodies and commercial vehicles before delivery.
This is a safety-critical role, ensuring every vehicle meets the highest standards of quality, functionality and compliance before reaching our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out comprehensive pre-delivery inspections on completed vehicles.
- Test and inspect hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems.
- Install and commission vehicle electrical systems and accessories.
- Fit and configure Brigade camera systems and other safety equipment.
- Diagnose and rectify faults before vehicle handover.
- Complete quality inspections in line with customer specifications and company standards.
- Complete all inspection documentation accurately.
- Work closely with production teams to resolve any issues efficiently.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping and adhere to all Health & Safety procedures.
What We're Looking ForEssential
- Previous experience working in a PDI, commercial vehicle, HGV or bodybuilder environment.
- Experience working with a range of HGV chassis manufacturers (such as DAF, Scania, Volvo, Mercedes-Benz, MAN, Renault or Iveco).
- Strong knowledge of installing and fault-finding vehicle electrical systems.
- Experience fitting Brigade camera systems or similar vehicle safety technology.
- Good understanding of hydraulic systems.
- Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- HGV Licence (Class C/C+E).
- Relevant mechanical or vehicle engineering qualification.
- Experience working within commercial vehicle manufacturing or body building.
