Unicare Devon is excited to be opening a new 4-bedroom Supported Living home in Chudleigh and we are looking for two experienced, compassionate, and enthusiastic Supported Living Team Leaders to join our growing team.
This is a unique opportunity to help establish and shape a new service, supporting individuals to achieve their goals, develop independence, and live fulfilling lives within their community.
About Our New Service
Our new Supported Living home in Chudleigh offers accommodation for four individuals. Currently, one room is occupied, with the remaining three bedrooms due to be filled as the service continues to develop and grow.
As Team Leader, you will have the opportunity to help build a positive, person-centred culture within the home, supporting both the individuals who live there and the staff team delivering their care.
About the Role
You will lead by example, providing hands-on support while supervising and mentoring a team of Support Workers to deliver outstanding person-centred care.
You will work closely with the Registered Manager to ensure the service operates in accordance with CQC standards, company policies, and best practice.
The first individual residing in the service is a 21-year-old young adult with:
- A Learning Disability
- Triple X Syndrome
- Anxiety
- PTSD
- Asthma
They require structured support with daily living activities, personal care, developing independence skills, and accessing their local community safely.
Applicants MUST have:
- Extensive experience in supported living
- Previous supervisory or senior support experience
- Strong understanding of learning disabilities, autism, and positive behaviour support
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- A commitment to safeguarding, dignity, and client‑led support
This is a hands‑on leadership role in a lively, rewarding environment where you will make a meaningful difference every day.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Lead, supervise and support a team of Support Workers.
- Deliver high-quality, person-centred support.
- Support individuals with daily living skills and personal care.
- Promote independence, choice, dignity, and inclusion.
- Assist with community access, appointments, and meaningful activities.
- Complete and oversee accurate record keeping and documentation.
- Administer and oversee medication in line with policies and procedures.
- Support staff through coaching, guidance, and role modelling best practice.
- Liaise effectively with families, healthcare professionals, and external agencies.
- Ensure the home remains safe, welcoming, and compliant with all regulatory requirements.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience supporting people with Learning Disabilities.
- Experience supervising or leading a care or support team.
- Strong understanding of person-centred support and positive outcomes.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to remain calm and adaptable in challenging situations.
- Commitment to promoting independence and achieving positive outcomes.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and participate in on-call duties where required.
- Full UK Driving Licence preferred.
