About the Role

Kingsley Academy is an Independent Special Educational Needs (SEND) School based in Wolverhampton, dedicated to supporting children and young people with mental, social, and emotional wellbeing needs. We are seeking a committed and compassionate Educational Tutor to deliver the core National Curriculum within a structured, supportive, and nurturing SEND environment.

This role places a strong emphasis on embedding English, Maths, and Science across learning, ensuring that all students develop essential literacy, numeracy, and scientific understanding in ways that are accessible, engaging, and tailored to their individual needs.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons aligned with the core National Curriculum, with a focus on English, Maths, and Science.
Adapt and embed core subject learning into a SEND-focused curriculum that meets a wide range of abilities and needs.
Plan, prepare, and assess learning activities that are engaging, inclusive, and responsive to individual student needs.
Support students’ social, emotional, and mental health development alongside academic progress.
Build strong, positive relationships with students to promote engagement, trust, and wellbeing.
Manage classroom behaviour effectively using de-escalation and restorative approaches.
Monitor, record, and report on student progress, attainment, and development.
Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals (e.g. therapists, social workers).
Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment at all times.
Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and adhere to all school policies and procedures.

Essential Criteria

Experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
Experience embedding literacy and numeracy across the curriculum in a SEND setting.
Excellent behaviour management skills and a calm, patient approach.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Relevant qualification in education, childcare, or a related field (e.g. Level 3 or above).

Desirable Criteria

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
Experience working in a specialist SEND or alternative provision setting.
Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and/or restorative approaches.
Experience supporting students with additional needs such as ADHD, autism, or anxiety disorders.
Understanding of EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans) and statutory requirements.
